*first 3 Sundays of the month.
Taste The Groove focus’ on modern and retro soul, funk, R&B, jazz-funk, the odd bit of Motown / Philly, and just about anything else Davey Tee can find surrounding those genres.
Davy Tee is a fan of reworks & remixes or as he likes to call them; “classics with a modern theme”.
Davy Tee was born in Cardiff in 1964 and has lived in the town of Barry all of his life.
At 15 years of age (way back in 1979) he found himself volunteering as a roadie for a local mobile disco. He soon became a paid member of staff and quickly moved onto DJ’ing in local pubs, hotels and clubs.
He cut his teeth in this period also at the local youth club along with stints at the now sadly lost Barry Island Butlin’s Staff club and Bindles roller skating discos.
In the late 80’s he secured the role of compere for the Cardiff Devils ice hockey team, where audiences of 2500 plus were regularly present. He also had the pleasure of playing at the weekly ice skating discos.
In the 1990’s he took on the role of head DJ followed by club manager at the then well-known Barry venue the Powerstation. Here, he had the opportunity to work with Kenny Thomas and Alison Limerick along with many of the tribute acts to which the venue was renowned for, with regular nightly attendances in excess of 1000, before then moving on to working in the mobile DJ circuit.
Since 2012 Davy Tee has been involved with internet radio providing a show 7 days a week and totalling over 1400 shows or approximately 2800 hours of radio airtime. He has also taken part in the annual soul weekender ‘Bless The Funk’ in Clacton, now held in Hastings, and is also honoured to have been invited to take part in the very first Malta Soul Festival taking place this year.
So 37 years on since his initial involvement with DJ’ing, he now pinches himself as he presents Taste the Groove, here on Radio Cardiff!
Make sure you join Davy Tee on a Sunday afternoon for a spot of musical sunshine in your life.
